12 Things to do on the Northumberland Shore

The warm, sparkling blue waters and long sandy beaches that stretch along the Northumberland Shore make this region a vacation paradise. The Northumberland Strait offers more warm water ocean beaches than anywhere else in Atlantic Canada while freshly caught lobster, wild blueberries from Oxford and maple syrup and maple brunch from Sugar Moon Farm are just a few of the delicacies found here. Explore this 120-year-old sawmill and discover Nova Scotian ingenuity through hands-on exhibits. For nearly 70 years, the Sutherland family produced carriages, sleds, windows, and fancy gingerbread trim, which were shipped all over the world.

Explore a working farm with over 300 sheep where the wool is used to make pillows, comforters, rink seats, blankets, and yarn. Sheepskin slippers and mitts are also available in addition to wool felting supplies, birch knitting needles, and crochet hooks. Visit their shop to explore the many products produced onsite.
