Your Guide to Nova Scotia’s Most Scenic Coastal Drives
Explore winding roads, dramatic cliffs, quiet fishing villages, and endless ocean views along the coast of Nova Scotia. Whether you’re chasing suns...
Slow down and take your time en route to Peggy’s Cove – there are so many things to see and stops to make. Enjoy sweeping vistas of rocky shoreline, and give yourself time to pull over for photos, linger over a coffee, and browse local artisan goodies at roadside stops. The journey is just as memorable as the lighthouse itself!
Begin your journey at the head of St. Margaret’s Bay on Peggy’s Cove Road. On the right will be your first stop, Acadian Maple Products. Pop in to pick up some Nova Scotia-made maple syrup, locally made jams, or try some craft brews. It’s a sweet way to kick off your drive to Peggy’s Cove.
Next, make your way to White Sails Bakery & Deli. This cozy seaside stop is perfect for grabbing freshly made sweets to snack on as you continue along the coast. Just a minute or two down the road, you’ll also find ABC: Antiques, Books & Collectibles where you can stop in for a unique souvenir to commemorate your trip.
After all that browsing, you’ll need a pick-me-up to continue! Stop at Labour Day Picnic Café to grab a coffee; their Lure Caramel Latte is not to be missed with their house-made caramel syrup. Take a few minutes to browse their selection of locally produced goods or treat yourself to their caramels and baked goods before you get back on the road.
As you get closer to Peggy’s Cove, you’ll notice artisan shops popping up right off the road. There are many studios and shops to explore like Peggy’s Cove Glass. Browse their unique Nova Scotian glassware and take a moment watch artisans at work over the counter as they shape molten glass into one-of-a-kind pieces.
Many look-offs and vistas await you on the remainder of your drive. Finally, you’ll reach the iconic lighthouse! Park, and make your way through the village to stop at gift shops and artisan boutiques, photograph the iconic lighthouse and take in the sweeping views from the large granite rocks surrounding the area.
To round off your day, grab a table at the Sou’Wester Gift & Restaurant to enjoy some local homestyle seafood with an unbeatable view of the lighthouse & surrounding village.
