Digby & Islands

Discover the Digby & Islands area

Home to a large scallop and lobster fishing fleet, a visit to the town of Digby is not complete without a photo of their colourful fishing boats captured from the wharf. Known for their famous Digby scallops, you can enjoy these succulent local delicacies at a variety of restaurants in the ‘Scallop Capital of the World.’

Walk along the waterfront to the Digby Pier Lighthouse and Admiral Digby Museum. Meet local artists and crafters to shop unique folk art and expert artistry. Be sure to plan a visit to the Maud Lewis Memorial Park, just minutes outside of the town, to learn the story of one of Canada’s most beloved folk artists.

From the town, follow the Digby Neck to Long Island and Brier Island via two short vehicle and passenger ferry rides – this scenic coastal drive is an adventure unto itself! Along the way, make time for hikes, birdwatching, beachcombing, and visits to quaint fishing villages and lighthouses. A whale watching boat tour to meet the gentle giants that call the Bay of Fundy home each summer is a must-do experience!

Digby is a great homebase to explore nearby communities like Bear River, Annapolis Royal, and Yarmouth, and they’re also home to a year-round ferry service with daily crossings to Saint John, New Brunswick. Relax on this full-service ferry while enjoying spectacular views of the Bay of Fundy.
