When the dog days of summer are upon us, there is no better place to be than at a Nova Scotia beach. From lazy days hanging out by the water to an exhilarating surf lesson, we have a beach for you! Whether it’s the Atlantic Ocean, the Bay of Fundy, or the Northumberland Strait, pack your beach bag and head to the coast. Here are a few of our favourites.
This wide, white-sand beach on Nova Scotia’s South Shore, located next to the Quarterdeck Beachside Villas and not far from White Point Beach Resort (which is on it’s very own white sand beach), offers all the fixings of a perfect beach day. Swim in the waves, build sandcastles, and soak up the sunshine on the Nova Scotia’s South Shore!
Located just 45 minutes from downtown Halifax, this is the beach to be at to learn to surf! Your experienced instructors will set you up with a wet suit, a surfboard and guide you through your lesson. Afterwards, watch the other surfers playing in the waves.

This picturesque beach in the beachside community of Inverness boasts shallow waters and soft sand, perfect for a day at the beach with the rolling hills of Cape Breton in the background. Enjoy supervised swimming on this sand-and-cobble beach during July and August. Take a leisurely stroll along the 1 kilometre long beach and the vast sand flats at low tide. Watch the colourful fishing boats bob at the nearby wharf while you soak up the sunshine.
