Sip & Savour the South Shore

The South Shore is a food and drink hot spot! From sweet maple products to fresh seafood plucked straight from the sea to restaurant menus with a local twist, you won’t go hungry here. Check out a few favourites below including:

Lobster
Lobster is in season on the South Shore from the end of November to the end of May but is available and delicious throughout Nova Scotia year-round. While in the region be sure to try lobster rolls, creamed lobster, lobster eggs Benedict, lobster mac and cheese, lobster poutine, even lobster craft beer, or keep it simple with a traditional and tasty lobster dinner.

Speaking of traditional lobster dinners, the Shore Club is known for its “World Famous” lobster suppers – reservations are recommended! Come and enjoy the Shore Club’s unique character, nostalgic décor and Maritime hospitality.  Make sure you plan to stay for their live music every Saturday night, as this is Nova Scotia’s last great dance hall which has had patrons dancing since 1946.

Train Station Bike & Bean, Tantallon
Nestled on the Rum Runners Trail, which connects coastal communities between Halifax and Lunenburg, this café and bike shop makes a good starting point on the multi-use rails-to-trails route or the perfect pit stop.

The Barn Coffee & Social House, Mahone Bay
Take a moment out from exploring to grab a cup of joe or a pastry at this restored rustic barn on Main Street in Mahone Bay. This comfortable, cozy coffee house is the perfect place to re-energize before starting your next adventure.
