Sober Island Brewing Company

Stop in for a flight of beer that includes their flagship brew, Beth’s Black Oyster Stout, made with fresh, whole Nova Scotia oysters. The family and dog-friendly Sober Island Brewing‘s taproom is in partnership with neighbouring Henley House Pub & Restaurant and hosts live music and dining events.

Enjoy your flight in the beer garden that overlooks the water, or down the coast at their seasonal Musquodoboit Harbour pop-up location when the weather warms up.

Dining

In Nova Scotia, you’re never far from fresh local seafood, and The Slippery Oyster serves up classic dishes. Delicious pan-fried haddock, anyone? Ocean views and BBQs go hand in hand so pair your seafood with their in-house smoked brisket.

Start or end your day at The Marmalade Café & Coffee Bar. Specializing in savoury soups, hearty sandwiches, house made sweets, and, of course, locally roasted coffee.

Get Outside

Grab a hand-crafted latte and treat at The Marmalade Café & Coffee Bar before strolling along the waterfront. The West River Falls Park includes a short looping trail along the river, with breathtaking views of the falls and ocean. Local artists’ work is on displays in the Art Park and families with young kids can relax on the harbourfront, while the kids play at the Lions Park and Playground.

Taylor Head Provincial Park

The Sheet Harbour area is home to one of Nova Scotia’s best coastal hiking destinations – Taylor Head Provincial Park. Though the entrance gate closes in December, don’t let that deter you. The park is open for visitors, and a short hike through the woods brings you to Bull Beach and the coastal hiking trails. These two spots offer 9.5km of trailway with some of the nicest views of the rugged coastline. Please help protect the park by keeping dogs on leash and taking out whatever you bring in.
