Located in the charming seaside village of Guysborough on Nova Scotia’s Eastern Shore, stately DesBarres Manor Inn pampers you with affordable comfort by the sea. Built in 1837 for Supreme Court Justice W. F. DesBarres, our magnificent, historic inn has been meticulously restored to its original grandeur. Casually elegant common spaces, luxurious guest rooms, original art, fine antiques and genuine Maritime hospitality surround you in comfort and relaxation.
Relax with a good book on the grand deck and gazebo, looking out over six peaceful acres in the heart of the Village, or step onto the lawns for an afternoon game of croquet, a visit to the Chef’s gardens or take an afternoon nap under a tree. Share the company of other guests in the Parlour Room before dinner with a cocktail or a glass of wine from our proprietor’s extensive wine collection. The warmth of our romantic fireside dining room beckons with renowned modern Canadian cuisine with a regional Nova Scotia influence.
The rich history and uncompromising natural surroundings of Chedabucto Bay provides you with an extensive range of day touring adventures on Nova Scotia’s Eastern Shore, including historical tours, sea kayaking, salmon and trout fishing, hiking, cycling, beachcombing and birding.
DesBarres Manor Inn is part of Authentic Seacoast’s hospitality offerings in historic Guysborough, which include nearby Glamping in the Vineyard and Distillery House, as well as its showcase distillery, brewery, apiary and vineyard. DesBarres guests have access to the services offered at these locations including an outdoor sauna and hot tub on Otter Pond, hiking trails, sea kayak, canoe and bike rentals, and of course, tastings of their award-winning products.
