Authentic Seacoast Distillery, Brewery and Vineyard, located in a state-of-the-art oceanfront facility, is home to award-winning spirits and craft beer brands including FORTRESS® Rum, SEA FEVER® Rum, GLYNNEVAN® Whisky, VIRGA® Vodka and RARE BIRD® Craft Beer. Some 15,000 vines, producing primarily white varietals, an apiary and hopyard enhance their offerings and provide a beautiful backdrop to this truly unique visitor experience. Guests can arrange to stay at Distillery House, Glamp in the Vineyard or DesBarres Manor Inn, where fine dining is offered. Facility tours can be arranged in the summer months (booking in advance highly recommended).
Authentic Seacoast gives visitors a glimpse into the long history of beer and spirits-making on the historic Guysborough harbour. Guysborough is the birthplace of brewing in Atlantic Canada, started in 1659 by Acadian entrepreneur Nicholas Denys. Named by WHERE magazine as one of Canada’s ten great craft beer destinations, Authentic Seacoast is proud to carry on the tradition.
Equally exciting is Guysborough’s rich rum trading history, a tradition that goes back more than 300 years, with salt cod and lumber leaving its shores for the West Indies and “hogsheads” of rum returning by ships. Both SEA FEVER® and FORTRESS® rum expressions build on this history. FORTRESS® Rum, Nova Scotia’s best selling premium rum, is further matured at Fortress of Louisbourg National Historic Site and then blended and bottled at the distillery.
GLYNNEVAN® whisky celebrates fine Canadian whisky-making and is the Nova Scotia highlight in Carlo DeVito’s 2021 “The Spirit of Rye” book covering more than 400 North American distilleries. Winning Double Gold at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition, GLYNNEVAN® 12 year old 100% rye is a whisky to be sampled directly at Authentic Seacoast’s tasting room.
