Seaside Pottery Weekend

Spend a fun and relaxing weekend exploring pottery with local artist Janet, owner/operator of Dirt to Dishes Pottery. Set in a historic seaside barn studio, this hands-on experience introduces you to pottery techniques including glazing, wheel throwing, and hand building. You will learn about texture, colour, form, and creative expression while making your own pottery pieces to enjoy at home.

What’s Included:

• Work with a local artist in a historic seaside barn studio and try different pottery techniques with gentle, step-by-step instruction.
• Hear local stories and learn about the inspirations behind Janet’s work.
• Take part in a Friday evening glazing session where you will learn about colour, glazing styles, and basic technique while finishing your own mug.
• On Saturday, try wheel throwing during a hands-on session on the pottery wheel.
• Create a second pottery piece during an afternoon hand-building session using texture and form.
• Enjoy a delicious, locally prepared lunch in the barn on Saturday.
• Take time after lunch to stretch and walk along Shelburne’s historic waterfront.
• Receive your completed mug and one additional pottery piece of your choice, to be professionally finished and shipped to you.
  • If you fall in love with more than one piece, arrangements can be made to have it professionally trimmed, glazed, fired and shipped for an additional fee.

Good to Know:

• No pottery experience required.
• The experience takes place over three days: it begins Friday evening at 7:00pm and ends Sunday by noon.
• Participants should wear clothing that can be messy.
• All pottery from Dirt to Dishes, including the piece or pieces you create, is microwave-safe, dishwasher-safe, and food-safe.
• Shelburne has several restaurants offering a variety of food options.
• Shelburne offers a range of accommodations, including historic waterfront inns and cottages. Many are within walking distance to the pottery studio.
• The Shelburne Guild Hall Market operates from June to October on Sundays from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Visitors can meet local artisans, purchase homemade treats, and enjoy live music.

Booking and Conditions:

• Advance booking and confirmation are required.
• The experience is designed for a maximum of six participants. Occasional flexibility may be available depending on the group.
• Full payment is required at the time of booking to reserve a space.
• Payments are non-refundable because space is limited.
• This experience is best suited to adults and older youth. It may not be suitable for young children.
