Nova Scotia’s Liverpool is a charming getaway destination in any season, renowned for its pristine white sand beaches, a walkable downtown featuring boutique shops, riverside trails, and great places to eat, enjoy craft beer, and listen to live music.
Year-round Resorts
Whether you’re travelling with friends, family, or booking a romantic escape, stay oceanside at White Point Beach Resort and the Quarterdeck Beachside Villas & Grill. These beachfront resorts offer a variety of accommodations, onsite dining, pools, hot tubs, saunas, and year-round access to popular white sand beaches—ideal for a scenic winter getaway!
Beach Exploring
Hike or snowshoe along winding trails and coastal headlands to the expansive white sands and turquoise waters of Kejimkujik National Park Seaside. Keep your eye out for seals basking in the sunshine.
Looking for a shorter beach walk? Check out Beach Meadows Beach Park or Summerville Beach Provincial Park – both are located nearby and offer wide, sandy shorelines with views of distant offshore islands.
Downtown Parks and Trails
Liverpool’s walkable Main Street, lined with shops and heritage homes, connects to multiple riverfront parks and trails. Pick up a picnic lunch from Five Girls Baking before heading to Fort Point Lighthouse Park or Privateer Park. Near the end of Main Street, follow the Trestle Trail over the Mersey River or walk under century-old stands of white pine trees at nearby Pine Grove Park.
Art, Live Music & Theatre
The renowned Astor Theatre, Nova Scotia’s oldest performing arts venue, has been hosting national and international acts for over 120 years. It is beautifully designed and offers fantastic acoustics. The onsite Town Hall Arts & Cultural Centre showcases works of local artists through displays and intimate performances. The biennial Liverpool International Theatre Festival, which takes place over four days in mid-October, showcases outstanding amateur theatre from across North America and around the world.
Experience art al fresco while meandering through the winding, forested paths at Cosby’s Garden Centre: Concrete Creations. This seemingly enchanted forest is home to numerous sculptures – from towering giants to lifelike wildlife tucked amongst the trees.
