Follow in the footsteps of Sullivan’s Crossing with this Nova Scotia road trip itinerary, guiding you to real-life filming locations, charming small towns, and scenic coastal spots where the fictional town of Timberlake comes to life.
1 Day 1: Halifax & Coastal Adventure
Start your adventure in downtown Halifax, where charming streets and top-notch restaurants set the scene. Hali Deli, which appears as Shandon’s Diner in Sullivan’s Crossing, is a perfect stop for classic diner fare in a cozy setting.
Fans of the show can also visit The Brown Hound Public House, Agricola Street Brasserie, and The Mercantile Social, all featured as on-screen dining spots.
In the afternoon, head to the historic fishing village of Fisherman’s Cove, where brightly colored waterfront shops and restaurants showcase local artisans and their work.
The seaside Boondocks Restaurant, seen in Season 1, is an ideal place to cool down with a drink while you take in sweeping views of Halifax Harbour.
If you’d rather spend the day outdoors, swap the seaside town for nature. Explore Shubie Park with a paddle along the canal, enjoy a lakeside beach day at Oakfield Provincial Park, or drive farther along Eastern Shore to Lawrencetown Beach, known for its rocky shoreline, rolling waves, and mix of families and surfers.
End your day back in Halifax with a stay at the Prince George Hotel, whose ballroom appears in the very first episode of Sullivan’s Crossing, letting you sleep just steps from a key piece of the show’s history.
2 Day 2: Discover Nova Scotia's South Shore
Spend your day today driving along the coast. Start in Peggy’s Cove, one of the most recognizable backdrops in the series. Photograph the well-known lighthouse and explore the unique geological history and landscape. Be sure to indulge in a lobster roll or traditional lobster dinner, a dish that appears often in the show and is a must‑try on any coastal road trip.
Continue along the coast to Mahone Bay, a picture‑perfect town framed by calm waters and the iconic trio of churches that line the shoreline. Stroll the charming main street, popping into boutiques, galleries, and cafés as you go.
Your final stop of the day is Lunenburg, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the province’s most photogenic towns. Its vibrant waterfront and historic buildings, some of which inspired the show’s small‑town feel, feature prominently in many scenic shots. Wander the steep, colourful streets, visit local shops and galleries, and choose from a variety of restaurants with patios overlooking the harbour for dinner.
To round out your Sullivan’s Crossing‑themed adventure, stay at Hubbards Beach Campground & Cottages. The Wyndy Crest rental property appears as Rob’s house in the series, and many other key scenes were filmed on the grounds and surrounding beach.
