Overview

The Train Station Bike and Bean is a café and full-service bike shop, which rents and sells bicycles, located in Upper Tantallon, approximately 30 minutes south of Halifax on the Lighthouse Route, just off Highway 103. We are located in the historic French Village Train Station, built circa 1901.

We are perfectly situated along the scenic St. Margaret’s Bay Trail section of the Rum Runners Trail, a 110 km multi-use trail along former railbed and connecting Halifax and the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Lunenburg, passing by the communities of Hubbards, Chester, Oak Island and Mahone Bay. From our trailside location, take a half-day or multi-day adventure to explore the many coastal communities along the trail.

Bike & Bean Café
Fuel up before or after your ride in our café! We offer a great selection of coffees and teas, as well as delicious paninis, wraps, soups, and sweets. We use many local ingredients and everything is made fresh daily in-house. You can pre-order for takeout through our website – even to take on cycling adventure!

Rentals
We rent bikes by the hour or by the day (2-24 hours) or by the week and have a selection of premium hybrid bikes, gravel bikes, e-bikes, and children’s bikes. All bikes come with a helmet and we can also supply a lock and repair kit when needed, at no charge.

Families looking to enjoy a safe, secure bike ride can also rent trailers or tag-alongs so they can explore our beautiful region.

We also provide snowshoe rentals in the winter, so you can enjoy the trail and great outdoors any time of year!

To book a bike and/or trailer rental, email us or visit our location for daily rentals.
