Welcome to Shackup: The Cabin! We’ve spent 3 years building every piece of this cabin by hand to create a unique and magical vacation spot for you. It truly is a wonderful forest hideaway beginning with the 100 foot long board walk welcomes you into the forest. The cabin is surrounded with decks and covered porch and a magical babbling brook called “Penny Brook” runs down the full length of the property and can be seen from cozy couch inside.
From the moment you walk in you feel at home, it is cozy and relaxing while offering all the modern amenities you need. The cabin is a timber-framed, open concept cabin with a full height loft. Upstairs the bedroom is tucked under a roof of skylights and from the queen sized bed you can see the stars at night. The kitchen is well equipped and offers coffee and tea plus all the basic kitchen amenities you could ask for. We have highspeed wi-fi, a turntable and vintage record collection, a wood stove, high-end linens. The bathroom is built as a separate building, just a few steps across the deck from the main cabin which features a glass shower with two showerheads and a big window looking out into the quiet forest.
In the summer, we offer a charcoal BBQ for use on the deck where there are four deck chairs and plenty of places to hang out for evening meals or morning coffee.
The hand-built woodfired hot tub is tucked in the woods by the river, steps from the cabin. The tub will be filled with water and ready for you to light a fire in when you arrive. It’s a bit of a labour of love, you will want to stoke the fire and stir the water every half hour for about 3-4 hours (depending on temperature) but once it gets warm it is a magical experience to float next to the river under the spruce branches and starry sky!
The cabin is perfect for weekend retreats, romantic nights, anniversaries, winter getaways, celebrations, beach going summer holidays, escaping the city and spending time tucked in the forest. It is a great year-round escape.
