James Middleton Studio & Gallery
Open year-round
A designated National Historic Site, the Fort Point Museum is a heritage park located at the mouth of the LaHave River, overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. The views remain as breathtaking as when Champlain first explored the area in 1604.
The community museum interprets the area’s unique local history, highlighting the native Mi’kmaq culture, French and early European settlers, lighthouse heritage, and the region’s rich shipping and fishing industries. It also celebrates the origin of the site, named “Fort Sainte Marie de Grace” in 1632, when it became the first capital of New France.
In addition to its exhibits, Fort Point Museum hosts live music, lectures, and other special programming. Check our website for the latest information about events and activities happening throughout the season.
Grounds open to the public year-round.
10am to 5pm, 7 days a week from June 1 to August 31. Park open year-round.
