The Mecklenburgh Inn is a turn-of-the-century historic inn located two blocks from the Atlantic Ocean in the heart of the village of Chester, half an hour from Halifax. The covered decks sport Adirondack chairs, side tables and a hammock for lazy afternoons.
Accommodations include four airy guest rooms (twin, double, queen) all with ensuite or private bath (three 4-piece with claw-foot tubs and one 3-piece with shower). Each guest room is named after an island in the bay and has a personality of its own. Beds have pillow top mattresses with line-dried Frette linens, feather pillows and duvets, and local quilts. There are crisp white towels, Frette bathrobes, varied reading material, Lindt chocolates and a diverse selection of toiletries.
Most activities, bars and restaurants are within walking distance of the Inn. Tennis, sailing, boat charters, bicycle rentals, sea kayaking or a round of golf at the Chester Golf Club. The Yacht Club is just down the street; the Playhouse is on the corner and offers evening performances all summer with intermittent shows year round. Local restaurants and bars are all within two blocks.
The atmosphere is casual – the attention to detail is not.
Your innkeeper – trained at London Cordon Bleu – delights in surprising you at breakfast, and will also help you plan your day trips and excursions.
