Overview

Nestled in Bridgewater’s Woodland Gardens Park, the museum houses Canada’s fifth-oldest history collection, started by Judge M. B. DesBrisay in 1870. Come see the world-famous 1868 porcupine quill cradle. Check out our historic photographs and ship models that will take you back to the early 19th century. Marvel at the colourful folk art, take in the Bridgewater Photo Club corridor, and experience our rotating gallery that changes monthly.

Pick up a souvenir from our gift shop, which has locally made artisan works and books on the history of Lunenburg County.

Families can be history detectives. Researchers are welcome; an appointment is recommended.

Open year-round. Public bus stop at our doorstep. Tour buses accommodated.
