Cliffs of Fundy UNESCO Global Geopark
Open year-round
The Cliffs of UNESCO Global Fundy Geopark attracts visitors not only with geological wonders but with a vibrant landscape full of trails, cliffs and sea stacks to explore, sunsets to soak in, and memories to be made.
What is a Geopark? An UNESCO Global Geopark designation celebrates globally significant connections between geology, local communities, culture, and nature. At the Cliffs of Fundy Geopark, with more than 40 impressive geosites within a 165km drive from Lower Truro to Apple River, visitors are welcomed to explore this stunning Bay of Fundy coastline.
See cliffs towering 300 feet over the world’s highest tides and stop into vibrant communities throughout the Cliffs of Fundy Geopark. Home to Five Islands and Cape Chignecto Provincial Park, you’ll find hiking trails, island views, sea stacks and unique rock formations – all making a great backdrop for picnics, photos and some rest and relaxation.
Once you’re here you’ll want to stay a while an explore. There are a number of year round and seasonal accommodations sprinkled throughout the park.
Before you visit, be sure to check the Bay of Fundy tide times. Ensure you start your coastline adventure as the tide is going out and plan to be back to the shoreline 2-3 hours before high tide. Because the tides are forever shaping this unique landscape, keep a safe distance from the edge and base of cliffs while exploring.
