We’koqma’q is bringing the Mi’kmaq culture, talented artists, and creations to the masses through a new cultural gift shop, Amkwesowa’q Kisitu’titl – First People’s Creations.
Located in We’koqma’q / Whycocomagh in Unama’ki /Cape Breton Island, Amkwesowa’q Kisitu’titl – We’koqma’q Cultural Shop celebrates Mi’kmaq culture through authentic, locally made art and goods and by working with Mi’kmaw artists to share their stories, traditions, and creativity, always with respect, consent, and authenticity.
The mission of the cultural shop is to connect people with Mi’kmaq culture in a meaningful way while supporting Indigenous creators and sustainable practices. Every piece they offer in the shop carries a story — of community, identity, and heritage.
