Age of Sail Museum
From May 2, 2025 to October 28, 2025
The Age of Sail Museum is comprised of six display buildings, including a re-purposed 1854 Methodist Church, a uniquely built ship building, an original working blacksmith shop, 1908 lighthouse, wharf walkway and more. Visit the memorial garden and monument remembering those who have served and those lives that have been lost at sea.
Visitors to the museum will also find the Port Hole Café & Gift Shop, a small café that serves up light meals – which include popular items such as lobster rolls and chowders – and refreshments with views that overlook the tidal river. Pick up locally-made giftware and items to remember your visit, including Age of Sail tartan.
The museum offers professional, hands-on exhibits, videos and interpretive tours help to interpret the history of the lumbering, shipbuilding and sailing history of the Parrsboro Shore as well as the communities that supported them. Special activities are available for children and self-tour guides in French and German are available.
Also available onsite – archives and genealogy database, and a public space for meetings and event rentals.
The museum is open early May to late October, Thursday to Monday, 9:30am to 5:30pm; the Port Hole Café is open 9:30am -5pm, Thursday through Monday.
The museum is located in Port Greville, on an old shipyard site along a tidal river on Highway 2, three kilometres from the town of Parrsboro in the Bay of Fundy & Annapolis Valley region.
