Located in the Steele Ocean Sciences building at Dalhousie University, Beaty Centre brings the underwater world of Nova Scotia to life through live local marine species, interactive exhibits, and real ocean research happening right here in our region. Whether you’re visiting Nova Scotia for the first time, planning a family day out, or looking for a hands-on learning experience like no other, Beaty Centre offers a vibrant and memorable experience for families, explorers, and ocean enthusiasts alike. Meet fascinating local marine species, wander through engaging exhibits, and discover the incredible world beneath Nova Scotia’s waters.

Visitors can also experience the remarkable scale and beauty of blue whales. Suspended from the ceiling, the skeleton of an adult blue whale measuring 18 metres in length serves as the centrepiece of the space. Through Ocean School’s augmented reality technology, guests can step into an immersive experience that brings these ocean giants to life in a whole new way.

Admission

• Child (age 3 and under): Free
• Youth (ages 4–17): $10 + HST
• Student (18+ with valid student ID): $12 + HST
• Adult: $14 + HST
• Senior (65+): $12 + HST

Dalhousie University faculty, staff, and students receive free admission with valid Dal ID.

Membership
Visitors can also purchase annual memberships.

• Adult Membership (18+) – $40 + HST
  Suited for one adult and can be combined with additional membership options.
• Youth Membership (Under 18) – $25 + HST
  Suited for one youth and available with an adult membership.
• Child Membership (Age 3 and under) – Free
  Available with an adult membership.

All memberships are valid for one year from activation and can be purchased online or in person.

Beaty Centre for Marine Biodiversity is proud to participate in the Easter Seals Canada Access 2 Card Program. Through this program, visitors with permanent disabilities who require assistance are eligible to receive complimentary admission for their support person while exploring the centre.
