Overview
Explore the world of traditional archery overlooking the beautiful Bay of Fundy as you develop your skills with expert guide, Lance Bishop. Then, enter the forest on a mock hunt, reflecting on the wisdom of our ancestors, finding a deeper connection to nature and self.
Experience Highlights:
- Learn the basic use of a traditional bow with historic insights including post-ice age natural and cultural history related to the geology, peoples, and fauna of the area.
- Get guidance on how to pursue traditional archery whether for target shooting or to develop proficiency as a bowhunter.
- Experience a simulated hunt of an animal of historical significance to the area, with preparations, tracking and planning leading up to the opportunity to “take the shot” with your newfound skills
- Share fireside reflections, over local tea and snacks, on the outcome and lessons of your “hunting” experience.
- $20 from each Traditional Archery by the Sea experience is donated to a Nova Scotia-based non-profit organization: Save our Old Forests (SOOF).
Availability: Offered on various Fridays from 6 pm – 9 pm and Saturdays from 9 am – 12 pm, May through October, 2025. Custom bookings may be available for private groups of 3 to 12 people. Please reach out to Wild Mountain Adventures to inquire.
Price: $150 + HST per person.

Good to Know:
- This experience is approximately 3-hours in length.
- Arrive through the big gate where you will see a “Park Here” sign on the right side of the driveway before the hill.
- Dress in layers as coastal temperatures can be cooler than in-land. Wear outdoor footwear suitable for rough terrain as you will be on uneven ground with hills, sticks, and stones. A thick-sleeved sweater is recommended to avoid the possibility of the bow string hitting your inner forearm. Arm guards are available if needed. Bring a water bottle and consider wearing sunscreen and sun protection.
- Dried snacks and drinks of historical resemblance will be offered, but you may wish to bring your own additional snacks.
- The minimum age for this experience is 10.
- There will be an opportunity to purchase your own equipment.
Conditions & Cancellations: Please give 48 hours notice for cancellations. If weather leads to a cancellation on our part, your experience will be reimbursed. Charges may be applied for guests who do not adhere to the cancellation policy (50%) *All prices are subject to 15% HST provincial sales tax. All visitors must sign a waiver. Waivers are provided upon arrival, or you can review, print, and sign prior to arrival: Adult waiver | Under 18 waiver.
