Overview

Leave your mark on history and become a ‘Solider for a Day’ – a Canadian Signature Experience! You will be an impressive sight in the MacKenzie tartan kilt, bright red doublet, and Glengarry bonnet. The skirl of the bagpipes and the crack of your rifle will transport you to 1869 where you will learn the skills needed to defend this important port. It may be hot, it may be dusty, or it may be foggy and raining, but this is the life of a soldier!

Don your authentic uniform, sign your enlistment forms, complete foot drills, and take in the firearms training (or drum training for soldiers under 16) to fire the authentic Snider-Enfield rifle. Enjoy a private in-depth tour of your new home – the Halifax Citadel, and finally, all participants can ‘stand down’ and enjoy some light refreshments in the Sergeant’s mess.

Duration: Three hours

Prices: Adults $199; Children (8-15) $175; Couple/Group of 2 $250; Family/Group of 3 $275; Family/Group of 4 $300
