Overview

The Barque Picton Castle is a three-masted tall ship sailing from Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, and best known for adventurous global sail training voyages.

The ship’s mission is deep-sea sail training and sea experience. Trainee crew participate fully in the ship’s operation: handling and even making sails, scrubbing the deck, taking a turn at the wheel, raising anchor, hauling on lines, helping in the galley, going aloft, and keeping lookout, navigation, and much else.

There are classes in seamanship and navigation, plenty of opportunities to learn square-rig sailing and to explore tropical ports and islands.

When in Lunenburg, the ship docks next to the Ship & Boat Chandlery at 174 Bluenose Drive.

The Ship & Boat Chandlery is the Picton Castle’s traditional ship’s chandlery located on the historic Lunenburg working waterfront.
