Salty Rose Beach Houses, located in the community of Rose Bay in Lunenburg County along the beautiful South Shore, offers visitors Cape Cod style cottages, each with its own individual character. Our six well-equipped housekeeping cottages range in size from cozy studios to spacious two-bedroom/two bath beach houses, all situated on a secluded sandy beach. With the ocean at your doorstep, guests can take a morning stroll along the beach, enjoy ocean swimming and beachcombing especially on the large sandbar at low tide! Each of the cottages has wonderful ocean views and allow the sound of the waves to lull you to sleep. Explore the area by canoe or bicycle – we provide both! Hike Gaff Point, enjoy the surf at Hirtle’s Beach or pan for gold, all within minutes of Salty Rose.
One side of the wide bay hosts Ovens Natural Park, which began as a natural cave but was extended by mining activities during the 1861 gold rush. The self-guided Cave Trail Walking Tour takes you along the spectacular sea cliff trail that leads to the famous Ovens Sea caves, while experiencing the Park’s fascinating gold rush history, unique geology and diverse coastal environment along the way. Enjoy the cable ferry ride across the LaHave River and explore historic Fort Point, the site of the first capital of New France. Tempt yourself at the wonderful bakery, the unique cafes or the abundant artist galleries all tucked in among the amazing coastline.
There are many wonderful sites and attractions in the South Shore region including a trip to Old Town Lunenburg, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where you can stroll along the town’s historic colourful waterfront and visit the Fisheries Museum of the Atlantic. Enjoy the many festivals, golf courses, boat tours and charters, beaches, hiking trails, unique shops and galleries sprinkled throughout our area.
Our self-catering accommodations include 6 oceanfront beach houses (King, Queen, Twin, sofa-bed; studio to large 2-bedroom/2 bath): kitchens, loft bedrooms, whirlpools, cable television, DVD player, Wi-Fi and glass-front woodstoves. French doors lead to a screened deck with a gas barbecue and deck furniture. Guest features include gardens, laundry facilities, playground, bicycles, canoes, and a sandbar.
