Peasant’s Pantry
Open seasonally (May, June, July, August, September)
Oxen, horses, gardens, orchards, woodshop, smithy, miller and cooper, home and hearth! Explore 60 acres of rolling farmland and discover what life was like on a family farm over 100 years ago!
Ross Farm Museum is an authentic, living heritage site located in New Ross – between the South Shore and the Annapolis Valley. Much of the farm remains as it was in the 1800s, from historic Rose Bank Cottage where the Ross family lived, to daily activities such as wool spinning and ox shoeing, barrel making, gardening and baking.
The museum gives visitors the chance to experience yesterday’s traditional farming methods and to learn heritage farming skills through hands-on demonstrations and workshops. Chat with costumed interpreters, hike the scenic nature trail, enjoy a wagon ride or winter sleigh ride and meet the animals who live and work on the farm as you connect with Nova Scotia’s rural heritage.
Whether you’re milking a cow, learning to carve a spoon, watching the cooper make barrels, or enjoying the site’s natural beauty, Ross Farm Museum engages you in a unique 19th-century rural experience.
Daily in summer.
