Old Court House Museum The Google rating is 5

South Shore, Barrington

Overview

Located in Barrington, on Nova Scotia’s South Shore, the Old Court House, which was built in 1843 and is the third-oldest courthouse in Nova Scotia, houses a collection of local indigenous artifacts, a collection of over 4000 military artifacts, and other community related exhibits as well as a new exhibit on Fort Saint Louis National Historic Site.

Among the military artifacts are mementos from World Wars I and II, the Korean War and other military operations. You’ll see cannonballs dating back to the 1600s, numerous uniforms and medals of merit and valour, and a large collection of historic photographs on display. A unique item in this collection is an ejection seat from a CF100 fighter jet used by a local serviceman.

Artifacts relating to the early New England Planter settlers are featured as well.

A well appointed tax-free gift shop featuring museum and locally made items is an added feature at this historic site.

This museum site is a part of the Barrington Museum Complex: four museum sites all within walking distance of each other along the scenic Barrington River.
