Overview

Nelson Memorial Park is a day-use park owned and operated by the Municipality of Colchester. The park is located 2 km west of Tatamagouche, beside Tatamagouche Bay in the Northumberland Shore region.

This quiet park has three large picnic shelters with barbecues, an ocean view, a playground, floral gardens and accessible washrooms.

Enjoy a stroll through the forest and fields on the 1.5 km walking path in the park, or explore the Butter Trail (part of the 127 km Short Line Trail and the Trans Canada Trail between Pictou and Oxford) which passes through the park on the former route of the Short Line Railway. The Butter Trail is great for cycling and long-distance running.

There is a narrow beach and ocean access, however due to the tidal variation and shallow bay, water activities such as swimming, canoeing, and kayaking are limited.

There is a fenced area for dogs to play off-leash (one area for big dogs, one area for small dogs). Otherwise, dogs must be on leash in the park. Please clean up after your pet.

Walkers are welcome in the park year-round.
