Overview

The Musquodoboit Trailway section of the Trans Canada Trail is a 15-km (9-mi) trail from Musquodoboit Harbour to Meagher’s Grant in the Eastern Shore region.

This gravel/crusher dust trail follows the former rail bed and weaves between the Musquodoboit River and towering cliffs. This trail was one of the first designated Trans Canada Trail sections in Nova Scotia, and the first in the Halifax Regional Municipality. There are picnic shelters, benches and pit toilets located along the trail. Three backcountry wilderness loops off the main trail (totaling 26.5 km) offer spectacular views of Musquodoboit Harbour, the Musquodoboit River, and the White Lake and Ship Harbour/Long Lake wilderness area.

Trail activities include walking, hiking, cycling, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. Camping and fires are NOT permitted on the Rail Trail or the Wilderness Trails. Please stay on the trails to minimize your impact.
