The MacDonald House Museum is a 19th century, gothic-style furnished farmhouse overlooking Lake Ainslie on Cape Breton Island. The museum’s exhibit rooms feature crafts, kitchen and bedrooms, a loom room and parlor. The barn displays an assortment of farm machinery and tools. The barn also provides a spectacular setting to view Lake Ainslie or to attend an evening event. Visitors to the museum can also explore a restored one-room schoolhouse (c 1920) to learn what education used to be like in rural Cape Breton
