Enso Dome at Fireloch
Open year-round
Keppoch Mountain is a former alpine ski hill, located in Antigonish County, that has been revamped into a four-season outdoor recreation facility run by a non-profit organization offering 40 kilometres of forested non-motorized, multi-use wilderness and mountain biking trails. Amenities at Keppoch mountain include:
Enjoy mountain biking, off-road cycling, bouldering, swimming, hiking and trail running throughout the year and then hit the trails for snowshoeing, fat-tire biking and Nordic skiing in the snowy winter months. One trail is fully wheelchair accessible with low grades and crusher dust to ensure “every body” can experience the Keppoch.
Hosting many events throughout the year, including two Family Fun Days during which our trail fees are waived, as well as several family-oriented activities that highlight the facility throughout the year, the Keppoch Mountain team also hosts multiple runs, races and hiking events, along with outdoor educational seminars and classes.
From late May to late October each year, there is shuttle service provided on weekends to transport riders and their bikes to the top of the mountain.
The gem of Keppoch Mountain is the almost 30 kilometres of purpose-built mountain bike trails, ranging from 500 metres to 5 kilometres in length that were built to accommodate all riders from the first-timer/beginner to the experienced mountain biking expert. For the more adrenaline-minded visitors, nine dedicated downhill mountain bike trails with lengths fo 500 metres to almost 1,500 metres, round out the mountain biking trail offering. During the snowy months, these trails also make for heart-pumping and challenging snowshoe experiences.
Families can enjoy the kids’ learning trail and almost 10 kilometres of gravel trails that offer a more casual family-friendly wilderness cycling experience.
Our most popular trail is our 5 km Summit Loop. This multi-use trail ascends the 180-metre vertical elevation gain to the peak of Keppoch Mountain. Hikers and bikers are greeted by scenic vistas out to the Northumberland Strait and across the Keppoch-Beaver Mountain region. One of the original trails – “Chicken Cougar” – is also a fan favourite and suitable for riders of all levels.
Along with the trails, activities offered at Keppoch Mountain include:
As a non-profit, Keppoch Mountain relies on trail fees and donations to support the facility. Yearly memberships and day passes are available at the lodge or online.
