Overview

Visit the Fundy Tidal Interpretive Centre to learn about the famous Fundy tides (the highest in the world) and the unique Tidal Bore.

The Interpretive Centre staff and interpretive displays tell of the natural tidal phenomenon and rich heritage of the area. The tidal observation deck offers a spectacular view of the Shubenacadie River and its red clay slopes. Other area features include a wetland trail, bird and eagle watching areas, and picnic tables.

During your visit, climb aboard a retired railway Caboose of years past and walk the 1-km flat trail that follows the old railway line overlooking a protected Ducks Unlimited marsh habitat.

Check tidal bore times in advance as times vary each day. There are daily free interpretive talks by friendly, knowledgeable staff: easthants.ca/fundy

The trails and grounds are currently open to visitors year round (no winter maintenance). The interpretive/visitor centre is open seasonally mid-May to mid-October 9am to 5pm. Public washrooms available during open hours.

The centre is wheelchair accessible along with washrooms and the trail leading to and including the observation deck. Accessible parking is also available.

The interpretive centre is East Hants’ only visitor information centre. Pets and bus tours are welcome.
