The Glendyer Bed and Breakfast
Overview
Welcome to The Glendyer Bed and Breakfast in Glendyer Station five minutes from the village of Mabou on Cape Breton Island. Formerly The Inn at Glendyer, this elegant historic home is set on six pastoral acres surrounded by the Glendyer Brook.
Year-round, we offer three unique guest rooms, named for the Scottish isles of the Inner Hebrides. We have a queen room (“Eigg”) with sitting area and ensuite with shower; a queen suite (“Canna”) with a 4-piece ensuite and an adjoining annex with a twin bed and living room; and a cozy double bed room (“Rum”) with 4-piece ensuite bath. From June to October, « An Bothan » (The Bothy), our Victorian cottage with a queen loft sleeping area, kitchenette, living room and 3-piece bath, is available for minimum three-night stays.
Guests will enjoy a full hot breakfast with local, homemade ingredients. Complimentary coffee and tea are available in the parlour day and night. Biscuit, our resident golden retriever, is the official Glendyer Greeter.
The Glendyer is located next to the Ceilidh Coastal Trail, a 92 km section of the Trans Canada Trailway, which offers a wide, linear pathway for walking, cycling, snowshoeing, snowmobiling and more. Our central location is perfect for those wishing to attend cultural events such as ceilidhs; spend a day at a number of beautiful ocean beaches; dining in local restaurants; golfing at Cabot Links, Cabot Cliffs or The Nest in Inverness; taking a tour at the nearby Glenora Distillery, the makers of North America’s first single-malt whisky; and the Mabou Farmers’ Market, a popular Sunday market. Several dining options stay open throughout the off-season, all within a short drive of the B and B.
