Please Note: The Town of Pictou has embarked on an exciting redevelopment project to transform the Hector Quay Visitors Marina with a projected completion date and reopening slated for 2027.

During this redevelopment period, visiting boaters are welcome to use the complimentary labeled moorings at the following coordinates – 45° 40.453’N • 62°42.538’W – on a first come first serve basis while tenders can be docked at the small wharf located in front of the above coordinates. Pictou Harbour also offers several safe anchorages.

Overview

Located in Pictou Harbour on the beautiful Northumberland Strait, the Hector Quay Visitors Marina has been a popular stopping place and seasonal port for over 20 years. Pictou’s fog-free harbour with deep water barrier-free access, combined with the warm, calm seas of the Northumberland Strait make it a perfect port to enjoy your boat and the offerings of our picturesque seaside town. Pubs, museums, shops, recreational activities and other services are all within steps of the dock.

The Hector Quay Visitors Marina is a popular gathering place for locals and visitors to take in the sites, sounds and activities on the Pictou waterfront.

  • Plan your day: Drop into the marina visitor information centre and our friendly staff will help you plan your stay in Pictou and beyond.
  • Take a boat tour: Daily seal tours and sunset cruises on the beautiful Northumberland Strait with Nova Scotia Family Fun Boat Tours or Discover the Strait Boat tours.
  • Paddle or pedal Pictou Harbour: Rent an inflatable kayak or pedal boat and explore the Pictou Harbour shoreline. We’ll provide you a safety briefing, tutorial, life vest and a map for a safe voyage.
  • Learn to fish: If you are new to fishing, our Learn To Fish experience will get you hooked! Our registered Nova Scotia fish guide will teach you everything you need to know to fish for Striped Bass or Mackerel on the marina’s Market Wharf. Instruction and tackle included.
  • Cruise the Jitney Trail: Enjoy this panoramic three kilometre trail along the Pictou Waterfront on one of our rental bikes. For more avid explorers, The Jitney connects to the Trans Canada Trail System.
  • Have a bite: Enjoy cuisine from near and far at one of our food kiosks including Syrian and maritime favourites, from Alladin’s and sweet and savoury crepes from Crepe Expectations.
  • Summer Musical Showcase: Local performers take to the marina’s outdoor stage every Sunday and Monday night at 6:00pm.
  • Market at the Marina: Browse our Thursday evening market for eatables and wares from local producers, artisans, crafters and creators. Live music jam sessions and Cèilidhs take place on the marina stage.
  • Relax & enjoy the view: Pull up an Adirondack chair or hammock on Market Wharf. The best seats in the house for all the sites on Pictou Harbour.
