Selkie’s Rest is three lighthouse-themed luxury cottages centrally located in the Village of Baddeck within a short walk of all the amenities the village has to offer.
Each lighthouse accommodation commemorates the memory of Alexander Graham & Mabel Bell and the significant contributions they made to our community.
The Yellow Lighthouse commemorates the first powered airplane flight in Canada – the “Silver Dart” – and the contribution made by it’s Pilot “J.A.D. (Douglas) McCurdy.” The upper-level sleeping, and lounging area has wrap around window with a view of Baddeck Bay, a queen-sized bed with a hand painted headboard that depicts the first flight over Baddeck Bay, smart TV, love seat, table and two (2) chairs, 3-piece washroom and free Wi-Fi. We offer a choice of a baby’s crib or a toddler’s bed with advanced notice.
The ground level has a large kitchenette, queen-sized sofa bed, “McCurdy’s Sea-Chest” for a coffee table, a large smart TV, dining table with four (4) chairs, and a half-bath.
The Blue Lighthouse commemorates the Bell’s 55ft yawl “Elsie” that was a wedding gift for their daughter Elsie and her husband Gilbert Grosvenor in 1917. The upper-level sleeping, and lounging area has wrap around window with a view of Baddeck Bay, a queen-sized bed with a hand painted headboard that depicts the “Elsie” in full-sail, smart TV a small kitchenette, table and two (2) chairs, a 3-piece washroom and free Wi-Fi.
The Green Lighthouse commemorates Alexander Graham and Mabel Bell. The upper-level sleeping, and lounging area has wrap around window with a view of Baddeck Bay, a Queen-sized bed with a hand painted headboard that depicts the Alexander and Mabel sitting on the shores of Baddeck Bay, smart TV, a small kitchenette, table and two (2) chairs, a 3-piece washroom and free Wi-Fi.
The ground level in both the Blue Lighthouse and the Green Lighthouse is a garage area for secure parking of motorcycles, sports car, ATVs, mountain bikes/bicycles, and/or snowmobiles and comes complete with its own ½ bath and a countertop & sink for cleaning your safety equipment.
