Private Maple Farm Tour: From Tree to Bottle
Experience a real working Nova Scotia maple farm on a private, family-friendly tour at Saturno Maple Farm in Avondale, Nova Scotia — just 10 minutes from Windsor and less than an hour from Halifax.
Come behind the scenes and discover how pure Nova Scotia maple syrup goes from tree to bottle. Your private guide will walk you through the maple syrup process, from tapping the trees and collecting sap to concentrating, boiling, filtering and bottling the finished syrup.
During your tour you’ll:
- Try traditional maple tree tapping yourself
- Walk through our sugar woods among the maple trees
- See how our tubing and sap collection system works
- Learn how maple sap is collected and concentrated
- See the equipment used to turn sap into maple syrup
- Follow the complete maple-making journey from tree to finished bottle
- See and touch real maple farming tools and equipment
- Have plenty of time to ask questions and explore at a relaxed pace
- Visit our little farm shop after the tour, where you can find pure maple syrup, maple treats, preserves and other farm products
Our tours are private to your family or group, making the experience relaxed, personal and easy to enjoy with children.
During the active maple season, you may get to see parts of the maple-making process happening in real time, depending on weather and sap flow. Outside the active maple season, we use demonstrations, our working equipment and a walk through the sugar woods to show you how the entire maple syrup process works.
