Experience Highlights:

  • Hike or snowshoe breathtaking fall and winter landscapes in the Cliffs of Fundy UNESCO Global Geopark with your expert, local guide. Choose from three unique locations:
    • Soley Cove: Available year-round. Explore the beautiful red sand beach, towering sandstone cliffs, sea caves and flowerpot rock formations.
    • Thomas’ Cove, Economy Loop Trail: Available October 15 – March 31. Meander through moss-covered woods to breath-taking views from the sandstone cliffs overlooking the Minas Basin.
    • Cobequid Highlands: Available October 15 – March 31. Connect with nature along wooded trails and hilly terrain, a breathtaking fall and winter wonderland.
  • When winter conditions are ideal: snowshoe rentals provided + 20-minute confidence-building session to ensure entry-level snowshoe enthusiasts are comfortable with the technique and equipment. Hiking poles are also available.
  • Hear insights about the Cliffs of Fundy UNESCO Global Geopark as your guide shares hidden wonders and geological history of the area.
  • Savour delicious, award-winning cheeses with a picnic style lunch at That Dutchman’s Cheese Farm.

Availability: Soley Cove available year-round. Thomas’ Cove and Cobequid Highlands available October 15 through March 31.

Cost: $220 + tax for 2 participants or $260 for 4 participants. Tour can accommodate up to 6 participants for an additional per person fee.

Good to Know:

  • Hike/snowshoe duration & distance: approximately 3 hours, 3 km (including return).
  • Meeting point: Cliffs of Fundy Welcome Centre parking lot (3246 Highway 2
    Economy). Please meet 15 minutes prior to the tour start time.
  • Be sure to plan your visit. The nearest public washrooms, open throughout the fall and winter season, are located at Masstown Market (10622, NS-2, Debert, NS B0M 1G0) or Parrsboro Tim Hortons (4019 Eastern Ave, Parrsboro, NS B0M 1T0). A washroom is available at That Dutchman Cheese Farm during the picnic lunch.
  • What to wear and bring: Warm fall or winter outdoor clothing and footwear including hiking or winter boots. Dress in layers to keep the wind/sun out. The weather can be unpredictable. Bring a daypack with drinking water and your preferred snacks on the trail. If you would like to take pictures, bring your camera with fully charged battery.
  • Interested in staying overnight in Economy? Stay at the nearby Four Seasons Retreat perched on the coastline just a few kilometers away from the Cliffs of Fundy Geopark Welcome Centre meeting point.

  • Advance booking is required; tour times depend on the tides and are different every day. All tours require a minimum of 1 person, max 6. Cancellations must be made at least 72 hours in advance of scheduled tours. If your tour is cancelled due to poor weather conditions, there will be no charge, and Tide Rollers & Mudlarkers will try to rebook your tour.
