Pine Grove Park
Open year-round
Pine Grove Park is a 54-acre community park situated in Milton in the South Shore region (Highway 103, Exit 19, north on Route 8). The park provides visitors with wide, easy walking trails (2 km total). The trail connects the major points of interest at Pine Grove and the scenic picnic area overlooking the Mersey River. Impressive native flora and plantings of rhododendrons, azaleas, and magnolias add to the beauty of Pine Grove. The park also has parking and washrooms available for visitors. Pine Grove is owned and maintained by the Region of Queens Municipality.
The 54-acre community park at Pine Grove features a stunning June display of colour under the towering white pine canopy. Rhododendrons, azaleas, and magnolias were planted in the woods among the lady’s slippers, partridgeberry, and lonicera Canadensis and along the path upriver by Captain Dick Steele, a Member of the Order of Canada for his plant breeding work. Graveled trails lead through the trees to a scenic beach overlooking the Mersey River, with picnic tables, a fireplace, and an artesian well. Created in 1987 when Queens County was designated as the Forestry Capital of Canada, the park is also a duck breeding and resting area in cooperation with Ducks Unlimited.
