Overview

Celebrating our 28th Season in 2026. The Maritime Painted Saltbox is a unique studio/gallery located in Petite Riviere, Nova Scotia, featuring contemporary fine, fun, and folk art, reproduction prints on metal, canvas, archival paper and vinyl banners by artists Tom Alway and Peter Blais. The work is housed in four rooms on two floors in a barn setting, in an outdoor building called the Coop, and in our new outdoor gallery, a covered 10′ x 20′ timber framed pergola.

The Maritime Painted Saltbox has been a South Shore Nova Scotia destination since 1998 and is considered a “hidden gem” in Lunenburg County.

We are open year-round: May 1-June 30, Thurs-Sun (10 am to 5 pm); July 1-October 15, daily (10 am to 5 pm); October 16-December 31, Sat & Sun (11 am to 4 pm). Outside scheduled hours or Off-Season (January 2 to April 30) by chance or appointment (please email or call ahead.) Children of all ages are welcomed to our World of Colour and Fun.
