Overview

There is no finer vantage point from which to savour Lunenburg’s unique charm than The Dockside Inn & Restaurant. Situated overlooking historic Lunenburg Harbour in a grand old building (circa 1901) that was originally the home of W.C. Smith and Co. – the fishing enterprise which evolved into National Sea Products Ltd. Today, The Dockside provides an unobstructed view of Lunenburg’s famous Fisheries Museum, the colourful waterfront, and one of Lunenburg’s most historic districts. Take in the view which includes the Bluenose Golf Course across the harbour, and the Theresa E. Connor, the last of the Saltbanker Schooners, that is moored just across the street.

Staying or dining at The Dockside gives you a front row seat to one of the finest cultural stages on the Eastern seaboard. Lunenburg is a UNESCO World Heritage site, birthplace of the Bluenose Schooner that appears on the back of the Canadian dime (10-cent coin), and is the home port of Nova Scotia’s sailing ambassador, the Bluenose II.

Accommodations at The Dockside Inn
We offer three suites, each with two queen beds, and four standard rooms, each with one queen bed and a full 4‑piece bathroom. All rooms include cable television, air conditioning, wireless Internet, and telephone. All suites and standard rooms have outstanding views of Lunenburg Harbour and the Bluenose II, when in port. All major credit cards are accepted.

Dining in a historic building is further elevated by an extensive menu of Maritime seafood favourites. Our menu offers seasonal seafood dishes and original recipes prepared in the homemade style and tradition that has made The Dockside a preferred choice for both locals and visitors, alike. The Lobster tank assures fresh lobster and our “Feast of the Fishing Fleet Platter » – featuring lobster, scallops, haddock, salmon, and mussels – is not to be missed!

Bus tours and large groups are welcomed. Whether old friends or new visitors, we look forward to serving you.
