Event Details

One of Nova Scotia’s most prolific and best-loved folk singers, Dave Gunning, celebrates the release of a brand new album right here in Chester.

With over two decades on the road, Nova Scotia’s Dave Gunning has earned a reputation as one of Canada’s most engaging and respected folk singer-songwriters. A multiple East Coast Music Award and Canadian Folk Music Award winner, he’s known for his warm stage presence, razor-sharp wit, and songs that celebrate everyday heroes and hard truths. Gunning has shared the stage with legends like Ron Hynes, Rita MacNeil, and Matt Andersen, and remains deeply rooted in his home community of Pictou County. In June 2025, he travelled to Point Londsale, Australia to record Field Notes, his fifteenth studio album, a stripped-back and emotionally rich collection that gets to the heart of what he does best.

With a first single released November 7th, Field Notes is available for presale as of November 17th, and will be available on all platforms February 20th, 2026.

Whether you’re already a fan, or just discovering this hidden gem in the Nova Scotia music scene, you won’t want to miss this intimate solo concert!

“For two decades now Gunning’s ability to craft these very human stories into songs that resonate deeply with us have endeared him to a growing legion of fans across the country and around the world.” – Doug Gallant, Saltwire Media
