2026 International Gathering of Clan MacNeacail – Flag Raising & Welcome

Experience the first International Gathering of Clan MacNeacail to take place in Nova Scotia.

On September 11, 2026 at 3:00 pm, join MacNeacail (MacNicol/Nicolson) Clan members and Clan Chieftains from Canada, United States of America, Scotland, New Zealand, and Australia as they welcome Chief John MacNeacail of MacNeacail and Scorrybreac. Everyone is invited to the historic raising of the Clan Chief’s standard at the Grand Parade.

A welcome to Nova Scotia will be provided by the Honourable David Ritcey, Minister of Communities, Culture, Tourism, and Heritage followed by a welcome to the City of Halifax by Mayor Andy Fillmore.

This international gathering last took place in Portree on the Isle of Skye, in 2024.

All MacNicol/Nicolsons are called upon to join the International Gathering taking place from September 11 – 14, 2026 at the Marriott Harbourfront – and bring your friends and family! Other gathering events include a banquet and ceilidh, an afternoon of Stories from Our Past and Present (open to the public) and a guided tour (open to the public) to the Town of Pictou to visit the ship, Hector, which brought the first Scottish Highlanders to Nova Scotia!
