Overview

Explore Five Islands Provincial Park in the Cliffs of Fundy UNESCO Global Geopark on a guided beach hike, customized to your family’s ages, interests, and abilities. This specialized family tour focuses on hands-on learning about the area’s geology, flora, and fauna, and is thoughtfully customized to suit the ages, interests, and abilities of both children and adults—ensuring an engaging, educational, and memorable experience for all.

Dates: Available daily, mid-June through Thanksgiving weekend. Must be booked in advance. Subject to availability.

Cost: $450 for a family group (two adults + two children) or $195 per adult and $75 per child.
** Add on a ‘Discovery Backpack’ (includes pebble and mineral identification guides, notebook and pencil, magnifying glass, and dinosaur figurine) for children aged 4-12 at $20 per child.

How to book: Online booking is available! This tour is tidal-dependent. Final confirmation of your tour start-time will be provided at least three weeks prior to your tour.

Good to Know:

  • Tour duration: Up to three hours
  • Walking distance: 4 km (return) to reach the “Old Wife” geological feature in Five Islands Provincial Park
  • Meeting point: Five Islands Provincial Park (618 Bentley Branch Road) day use parking lot. Please arrive at the meeting location at least 15 minutes prior to your tour start time.
  • Tours run rain or shine. In case of rain, ponchos will be provided. Water shoes and hiking poles are also available upon request.
  • Your guide always packs some high-energy snacks to share. Please inform Tide Rollers & Mudlarkers about food sensitivities, dislikes or allergies at time of booking.
  • What to wear and bring: Please bring water (1 litre per person), a small snack and sunscreen in your daypack. Wearing a hat is recommended. Ensure your footwear is suitable for navigating beaches. Closed-toe and lace-up shoes are a must for the varied terrain (ranging from fist-sized rocks to pebbles and sand with muddy sections).

  • Tours run rain or shine. Full payment is due upon booking. Advance booking is required. Tour start times and dates depend on the tides and are different every day. Cancellations are accepted up to 72 hours prior to your tour date for day tours, and 30 days for overnight tours, and are eligible for refund less a 20% handling fee. Cancellations made less than 72 hours (day tours) or 30 days (overnight tours) in advance of the tour date are not eligible for refund. Should a tour have to be postponed by Tide Rollers & Mudlarkers due to unsafe weather conditions (thunderstorms, hurricanes), an alternate tour date will be offered. In the event that you are unable to switch dates, you will receive a refund of the tour price less a 20% handling fee or you may turn your booking into a non-refundable gift certificate for the full value of the tour (no expiration date).
