Overview

This is the last original lighthouse remaining in Hants County (built in 1873), overlooking the water in Walton; it was designated a historic site in 1992. Visit and learn about the history of the Walton area on the first and second floors before heading to the third floor to check out the incredible view over the Minas Basin and the Bay of Fundy tides. Children can receive their honorary lightkeeper’s certificate with a visit to the top of the lighthouse!

On the lighthouse grounds, there are picnic tables, a gazebo, a telescope, and flower gardens. There are also public washrooms, a community museum, and the Beacon Gift Shop. Visitors can also take a walk on the wooded walking trail that takes you to a look-off and more picnic areas.
