Windsor Pumpkin Regatta and Build Your Own Boat Race
Location
Windsor Waterfront
Event Details
Head down to the Windsor waterfront on October 4 to watch one of the most unique events in the world: people racing across Lake Pisiquid inside giant carved-out pumpkins.
Festivities kick off in the morning with a parade open to everyone, not just pumpkin paddlers. Organizers are aiming for a 10:00 a.m. parade start, followed by the Pumpkin Regatta at around 11:00 a.m. or noon.
The regatta will feature several race divisions, similar to previous years:
- People-powered pumpkins
- Motorized pumpkins
- New this year: Creative Entry division, featuring pumpkins in imaginative designs that do not need to be made entirely from pumpkins
The Windsor Pumpkin Regatta is not just a fun local tradition. It was the first organized pumpkin boat race in the world, starting in 1999, when a small group of daring paddlers climbed into giant pumpkins grown in Windsor and raced them across Lake Pisiquid. Since then, it has grown into a must-see fall event for spectators and participants alike.
