Overview

Enjoy the bright, spacious feel of this historical (1837), fully renovated country home when you stay at the Acadian Home vacation house. Situated on an acre of property with both mature trees and large lawn area, prepare to unwind as you breathe in the clean ocean air from the nearby St. Mary’s Bay. Not only is the ocean close by but the stars in the night sky will seem to be within reach. Can you pick out the constellations? Relax by a fire at our fire pit where you may hear owls nearby or coyotes howl in the distance. During the day, enjoy the song of Warblers, Kinglets and other songbirds.

But that’s just what nature has given us, what about inside? Acadian Home was a house built for large families, where you’ll enjoy the front living room for your morning coffee, or conversation space where as much natural light as you’d like along with sufficient lamps for your cozy evenings indoors. The country kitchen, with an enviable amount of both counter space, cupboards, and dining area, comes fully equipped for any meals you decide to make. A BBQ is also conveniently located on the deck just outside of the kitchen with a patio table where you can dine el fresco if you choose.

We’re rural but don’t worry, you’ll still have access to high speed internet to stay connected and entertained. Our 42 inch Roku Smart tv is available for you to stream your favourite shows on from any of your streaming channels.

When bedtime arrives, you’ll have your choice of three+ bedrooms. The primary bedroom comes with a full-sized closet and a comfy double bed; the second bedroom with a queen bed and dresser; and the third bedroom with a twin bed and dresser. For any additional guests, you can use the comfortable double air mattress, complete with an electric air pump and an extra space for privacy! Roughing it never felt so good!

There are 2 full bathrooms located in the Acadian Home – one on each level. Bathe or shower in the main floor bathroom while upstairs you’ll enjoy using the soaker tub, complete with epsom salts and candles to allow you to unwind and relax after a day out exploring.

In house washing machine and dryer with the laundry necessities are at your finger tips. Guest of the Acadian Home are welcome to use the two car garage to store your vehicle and any other fun stuff you bring.

As we are new on the scene, we have more rooms that have yet to be outfitted. Want to maintain your yoga routine – bring your mat, we’ve got a room for that. Kids, play room? You bet – on the second floor a pint sized room ready for block building, game playing or reading.

Kejimkujik National Park
Kejimkujik (or Keji for short!) features abundant lakes and rivers ideal for canoeing. The lush woodlands and rolling landscape are home to a variety of wildlife and visitors may enjoy historic canoe routes including portages as well as many beautiful hiking trails. Parks Canada says that Kejimkujik provides the best canoeing country in Nova Scotia. You don’t have to be an experienced canoe handler to enjoy the quiet lakes and gently flowing rivers as guided canoe outings are given throughout the summer by park interpreters. This is also an ideal place for first time canoers or children to learn how to pilot these vessels. Cyclists may use their own bikes or rent one and then enjoy the 5 multi purpose trails in the park. For those that prefer the security of their own two feet, Keji offers a trail for everyone.
