Get ready to celebrate Nova Scotia’s rich marine history at the very first Maritime Heritage Festival!

This free, family-friendly event is taking place on the Halifax Waterfront right outside the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic (MMA) on Saturday, September 13 and Sunday, September 14 from 10am – 3pm. Working with over 25 partner organizations to celebrate our Maritime heritage, the MMA invites everyone to come and enjoy a variety of daytime programming – from live Maritime music and historic ship tours, fun interactive activities with our ocean friends and marine organizations, to pop-up museum displays, Raina the Mermaid, Back to the Sea touch tank, and more!

Join us for a weekend packed with fun activities, including:

  • Live music from bands including Drummers from Home, Yarmouth Shantymen, Celtic Ensemble, Boarding Party, Halifax Newcomer Choir and the Stadacona Band
  • Historic ship tours of the CSS Acadia and HMCS Sackville
  • Interactive activities with Raina the Mermaid and the Back to the Sea touch tank
  • Hands-on learning and youth boat building with the new MMA Boat School
  • Pop-up displays from over 25 partners, including the Nova Scotia Sea School and the Royal Canadian Navy

For a full list of planned activities, please visit the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic website.

Festivities are taking place along Halifax’s waterfront, from the MMA and historic ship, CSS Acadia to Sackville Landing and HMCS Sackville, transforming it into the Maritime Heritage District!

Come join in the festivities for boatloads of fun and things to “sea and do”!
