Ovens Natural Park and Sea Cave Trail
From May 12, 2025 to October 9, 2025
The Ovens Natural Park is a privately owned, 180-acre pristine reserve of coastal forest, site of the 1861 gold rush, located on the Atlantic coastline along the scenic Lighthouse Route near Lunenburg, Nova Scotia. For hundreds of years, people have been drawn to the incredible beauty, diverse geography, fascinating history, and spiritual solace that make the Ovens Natural Park so unique.
Every year, the Ovens Natural Park welcomes thousands of visitors as they stay in our campground, cabins, and/or to hike the spectacular coastal cliffs and nature trail to view the famous sea caves, or “ovens” for which the park was named. Experience the resounding boom of crashing waves in Cannon Cave – where you can actually descend into it to via a carved staircase to feel the power of the tide.
The Sea Cave Trail is a dramatic 1.5 km roundtrip, cliff-top trail leading to a series of sea caves with staircases into sea caves. Self-guided walks, kayaking and gold panning are also available onsite. Campground and cabin accommodations, picnic areas, general store, restaurant and takeout (available mid-June to mid-Sept) along with live music daily from 5pm til dusk are also located onsite.
The Annual Chapin Family Concert takes place in August each year with appearances and performances by Steve Chapin, Tom Chapin, Big John Wallace, Jen Chapin Trio, The Chapin Sisters (Abigail & Lily) and Jonathan Chapin. Visit our website for more information.
Admission to the park is charged.
