Visit Bear River Vineyards in the small community of Bear River to taste wines from one of Nova Scotia’s oldest vineyards, dating back to 1611. It is believed that French Settlers first planted the vines where today, overlooking stunning vistas in a sun-drenched amphitheatre, the mostly south-facing vineyard can be seen on the steeply sloped valley walls above the Bear River, a tidal estuary that flows into the Annapolis Basin from the Bay of Fundy.

The winery is housed in a masterfully renovated bank barn that was built in 1883.  The barn’s unique four-and-a-half-storey design allows for a primarily gravity-fed winemaking process with the main level of the winery housing the tasting bar and wine shop. From its soaring beamed ceiling to the herringbone slate floor, it is the perfect place to enjoy our 100% estate-grown and -bottled wines while surrounded by understated elegance.

Tastings available from 11am to 6pm daily, June to September and 11am to 6pm Thursday through Sunday until mid-October.

Stay within our working winery in our well-appointed guest suite that offers all the amenities you need to make your stay a relaxing experience. The guest suite includes a queen bed, a beautiful ensuite bathroom with heated flooring, and is equipped with a compact fridge and microwave. Enjoy the stunning view overlooking the vineyard and, of course, a bottle of Bear River Vineyards wine!
