Overview

On the shore of the Northumberland Strait, Amherst Shore Provincial Park offers an attractive woodland setting for camping. Walking, swimming or beachcombing are enjoyable pastimes here. The park’s main hiking trail is 2.5 km (1.5 miles) long and follows Annabelles Brook through the coastal woods out to the unsupervised beach. A walk along the park’s shore reveals distinctive red sandstone cliffs towering 12 metres (40 feet) above the strait.

This park, like our beach parks along this coast, offers some of the warmest saltwater swimming north of the Carolinas. The red sand/cobble stone beach is located in the day-use area of the park, 1.3km from the campground.
