Overview

Step back-in-time at the Halifax Citadel National Historic Site for a private tour with your group’s very own costumed interpreter-guide. Explore the history of the star-shaped stone fort as you make your way around ramparts and rooms, hearing insights about the fort’s role in defense and as a home for soldiers!

Availability: Private guided-tours are offered year-round. Tours between May 7 – October 31, 2026 are available after 5 pm. Tours from November 1, 2026 through early May 2027 are available anytime of the day. Subject to availability.

Price: $230 + plus tax per group (min. 2 – max 30 participants). Includes admission to the site and guided-tour.

How to Book: Please contact Halifax Citadel Society at 902-426-1990 or via email at bookings@halifaxcitadel.ca. Private tour bookings should be requested a minimum of one-week in advance of your preferred tour date.

Good to Know:

  • Private tours require a minimum of two participants.
  • Groups larger than 30 participants can be accommodated with additional guides running tours concurrently. Please get in touch with Halifax Citadel Society to inquire.
  • Tours include outdoor locations and plenty of walking. It’s recommended you dress accordingly for the weather and wear comfortable footwear.
  • For winter tours, snow and ice conditions may make some areas inaccessible; however, your guide will strive to ensure your tour is as complete as possible.

  • Cancellations are accepted up to 72 hours prior to the scheduled day of the tour. Halifax Citadel Society reserves the right to cancel tours, with a full refund, in the event of particularly inclement weather.
